Indoor Sportshall Athletics

Our sports hall athletics team competed against other small schools at the Meres on Jan. 25th and we won! Children could compete in a maximum 2 track and 2 field events accumulating team points. Events were: obstacle relays, 1 lap relays, 2 lap relays, standing long jump. triple jump, vertical jump, javelin, chest push and speed bounce.
Our girls 1 lap relay team were phenomenal.

We were "team pink" this year.

The whole team after all the event but before the results were read out.Last year we lost out by 1 point so we had high expectations this year to do one better than silver.

We did it-Gold- 1st place- a fantastic team effort.

We had some great individual results giving us a massive 400+ points compared to the 300 from the second place team.Well done to all- well deserved.

Sarah Outen's visit

Once again we welcomed Sarah Outen to deliver a special Assembly. She was welcomed by our Bronze Sports Ambassadors and then talked to us about when things get tough.
Sarah reminded us about her travels and adventures where there were many times when she had to be resilient and keep going.

As always Sarah was inspiring telling us it was ok if things got tough and told us to ask for help, to keep going and to be strong.

Badminton festival

2 teams enjoyed 8 activities based on badminton at KGGS. Teams of 6 played mini games, learned new skills and practised their badminton skills with the guidance of Inspire+ Sports Ambassadors.

Legacy Tour and our Bronze Ambassadors

We had the Legacy torch passed onto us on behalf of Barkston School and our Bronze Ambassadors led the special assembly. The tour is all about the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic games that take place in Japan later this year.
Leading the assembly.

The flag which Jonathon Broom Edwards will take to Japan with him. We wrote a special message for him.

We then enjoyed a Boccia session with Carl .

Such concentration.

Our Bronze Ambassadors went to Long Bennington school to pass the Legacy Tour to them. They read the pledge and handed the flag onto their ambassadors.

Torch Competition winner

We heard at the end of term that Abigail had won the Inspire+ Legacy Tour torch competition. Carl came to a special collective worship to present Abigail with her own torch that had been made using her design.
We all get to see what the torch looks like.

This is the torch that will be passed on to all the schools in the Inspire+ Legacy Tour( around 55 schools).

                                                               Well done Abigail.
