Poetry Day May 29th

Today we were lucky enough to have poet David Harmer spend the morning with us . He read us lots of his poems, taught us a choral poem and helped us write our own alien poems. We spent the whole morning listening, laughing and learning all about poetry. In the afternoon David performed(with the help of some children-no names mentioned but they know who they are and how funny they were!) some more poems in a special whole school assembly. All children and staff really enjoyed listening to and being entertained by David. David signed some of his poetry books which will be in great demand back in the classroom. A super day.

This morning our 3 Bronze Ambassadors, Ella, George and James visited Allington School to hand over the Olympic Torch. This involved the 3 of them telling all of Allington children and staff in a special assembly how we at Marston celebrated our special day on Friday. They then read the official torch declaration and passed the torch into the care of two year 6 children. Finally they handed over a giant friendship chain which all of class 3 had helped create containing messages and thoughts about friendship.Well done to all 3 for speaking so clearly and well  in front of everyone at Allington School.
