January 25th

In English this term we have been looking at Journalistic writing. We have analysed and deconstructed a variety of newspapers and now know the purpose of them , the design layout and also their features. We will now be using a short film to generate some ideas for writing our own front page articles.

We have First News delivered every week in class 3.

What is special about headlines?

For broad sheet papers we needed to spread out!

What is the same in every paper?

What is different? Why?

What this space for our  news reports.

In Science we are learning about changing circuits. How does adding extra components alter the circuit? What happens when the positions of the components are altered? We are investigating these and other questions.
In D.T. we are designing and making torches.

We are also enjoying making our clay containers with the help and expertise of Mrs Faulkner.

I look forward to seeing the finished containers.

January 2013

Welcome to our blog 2013.

At the end of term after we were told our SAT's results put us 3rd in the country, we invited the old Y6 back to be part of the photo for the Journal. It was good to see them again-but they really must stop growing! Most are as tall if not taller than the staff!

Well done everyone.

Last term we studied autobiographies and biographies and for our homework we wrote our own autobiographies. On Thursday we enjoyed looking at and sharing these with our peers.

No room in the class so we worked in the corridor too!

Our autobiographies are now on display for us to read in quiet reading sessions. Mrs Chadwick is also reading some of them to the class at the end of each day.

New term, new beginnings-  we looked back over 2012 and highlighted some key moments and we looked forward to 2013.-what we hoped might happen. We presented our work in the shape of Janus-the Roman God.

We start our new units and topics this week-look out for the details. Spelling Unit 8 starts on Monday.
