Beowulf Playscripts , Class Move,Anglo Saxon Villages Play Leader awards.

Beowulf Plays
Year 6 have been learning about writing play scripts. The culmination of this was to turn part of their own Beowulf Stories into a play script. Once the scripts were written a performance of each script was prepared.
Sophie sharing her script with her cast.

Vincent reading his play.

The "audience" had to see if they could tell which chapter of the story it was and who the characters were.

Guards stopping Beowulf from speaking to the King.

Grendel emerging from the Lake of Demons

Another "Arrival " scene being portrayed.

Megan's script in action.

Conor's script with the ghost of Leofric appearing.

Serena found it hard to direct her cast of 9-she wished she had  fewer characters in her play.

Who's died?

Grendel has attacked again.

A toast enjoyed at the feast ( rather too much as 1 or 2  guards enjoyed the mead too much) according to Jess's script.

One drink too many and this is what happen!

An exhausted group after their exploits only to be woken to find the monster had struck again.
Beowulf killing Grendel's Mother and  soon to surface from the lake holding her head aloft in triumph( fortunately for Casper it was still attached to his body)

All 14 year 6 children produced their plays and all the class were involved in the acting and narrating of them. Each one could clearly be related to the story the class had studied last term with the characters and their deeds and actions.

Play Leader Awards
Class 3 after they had been presented with their Play Leader badges.

Mr Campbell -Adam arranged a surprise leaving party for Mr Campbell.

Mr Campbell finished his teaching placement with us on Thursday. Adam secretly arranged a surprise party for him. He brought in sweets, lemonade, pancakes, donuts and  crisps. Adam also bought a card that everyone signed and this was presented along with a card made by Holly where she drew Mr Campbell and again this was signed by class 3. Mr Campbell enjoyed his last afternoon with the children at break time. Thank you Adam-very thoughtful of you .

PGL Dojo winners treat

12 children earned a treat at the end of March for gaining the most Dojos. On a cold but sunny morning they enjoyed( but looking at some facial expressions I am not too sure this is the best word!) the Giant Swing and then orienteering.
getting ready-safety harnesses and hats on
checking all is tight and correct

                                                              first 2-Conor and Leon
rest of group pulling and feeding the rope to get the boys high up

up and ready to let go of the rope...

                                                                          ...and swing!
starting to enjoy it second time around

Matthew and Rory sitting waiting

and go!

starting to relax into it

second swing

Sophie and Jess almost high enough

they were supposed to sing as they swung-they didn't

now they started singing!

higher this time

Amy and Sophie Elizabeth waiting...

...and go....

'higher please' second time around

group still working hard feeding the rope to get the swing ready each time

                                                           George and Megan patiently waiting
aarrghhh!!!

starting to enjoy it!

Jacob and Holly-long time to wait watching all the others
so feeling a bit apprehensive

that's high enough
it's fun really!

Orienteering-directing others using maps around the cones before they were "let loose" around the site.

being given maps and instructions-work as a team... find these points ...stamp your cards ...then come back for next instruction.

more like a follow the leader team

come on...keep up!

that's more like a team
At the end some team gained points for good team work, other lost points-they sent runners on ahead to find the stations.
