We had several footballers, as well as rugby, cricket, runners, gymnasts, a speed skater, boxers,a kick boxer, a swimmer ... to name a few. We had 13 different sports represented in our class.
our 6 footballers
gym, runners- including our own Mo Farah , tennis and basket ball
Our gymnast, runners and our kick boxer all ready for action
More runners and our rugby players getting ready for this weekends Grand Slam final.
Our swimmer, boxer, speed skater, cricketer and Eddie The Eagle Ski jumper.
Now time for our PE- we were trying to complete as many 1 minute challenges in an attempt to convert our scores into miles to see how far we could get from UK to Rio. We decided to multiply our points by 10 to help us make the 5000+ miles.
Our activities were based on our Real PE skills and we used our creativity ( which was the focus of this unit) to pass and receive the ball in different ways. If a pair or group lost control of the ball then they didn't get the points.
Now we had to keep 2 balls moving...
different groups came up with different patterns and sequences
some throwing as well as rolling - 100% concentration needed to complete the minute successfully
sending and receiving
good athletic stance and rhythm to ensure challenge met
now to complete the sending and receiving whilst moving
for our final challenges we worked as a team- 26 children and 13 balls
we could only have 1 go at each challenge- our first challenge failed!
so we tried a different way
ready for standing and success
As a class we scored 196 points so 1960 miles on our journey to Rio.
I also did the same activity with class 2 and they scored 184 points =1840 therefore we completed 3800 of the5767 miles form London to Rio.
