Tag Rugby- training and competition

Will from Inspire+ came to give our Tag Rugby team some extra coaching before the competition. The first session was cut short due to rain and hail but luckily the weather was OK on Tuesday morning.

4 girls and 9 boys were chosen to represent the school at the Tag Rugby Festival on Thursday 27th.
Thursday was cold and wet as we prepared our tag belts.

We played 6 games .

Still raining and listening to Will during matches.
We finished 3rd in League 1 and then played St Marys in a friendly beating them 7-2 and then Barkston B we won 7-3 coming 5th overall.

6 games, 4 won 2 lost.
Claypole 2- 5 lost
Huntingtower 7-3 won
Harlaxton/ Denton 7-8 lost
BarkstonA 5-4 won
St Marys 7-2 won
Barkston B 7-3 won
A great team effort- well done everyone including coach Will.

At 3.45 at the end of the competition the rain finally stopped!

Cricket in class 3

On Tuesday class 3 welcomed Mat a cricket coach from Grantham Cricket Club.Luckily the weather stayed fine so we enjoyed 1 1/2 hours of cricket skills and games.
First Mat wanted to assess our catching skills.

2 handed throwing and catching then 1 handed.

How many could each pair do in 1 minute?

Next throwing at the stumps with a wicket keeper rolling the ball back.

First team to hit the stumps 3 times were the winners.

Next :hit the stumps and remove a stump, winning team first to remove all 3 .Hitting just 1 stump was not easy!

Next for a game- 4 bats and if someone was out a bat was lost until the team was bowled as no one could get a bat back to their player in time!

The final activity involved Mat hitting the ball high in the air- if we caught it= 1 point to us, if we dropped it= 1 point for Mat.Winner= first to 10.We won with some very good catching from Arthur and a few others.
