More cricket in class 3.

Another session with coach Matthew saw us practising our throwing and catching, over arm throwing and batting skills.
batting practice

tips from the expert

Our final game in 2 teams was to catch the 2 tennis balls hit simultaneously in the air- if both were dropped then the other team swapped in.
How many points could be scored by catching the ball without both being dropped.
All change.
Excitement was rising with some sky- high catches.
All desperately trying to catch the ball!

Hands on head means someone missed the catch!

Another great session.

Year 3/ 4 had their annual cross country race at the Meres on Thursday. 17 children, a full team of 10 girls and 7 boys chose to compete running 1.5km with over 130 other children in each race.
The girls team.

All our team completed the race - well done girls.

The boys team.
Our top 3 places were: Sash 25th,Sam 28th and Harry 43rd. Again all boys finished the course.

Josef on his way to finishing 56th.

Harry came 43rd.

Elsie ...

Big brothers Isaac and Casper running with Mathilda who came 6th- a fabulous result.

Elspeth came 17th.
Annie came 20th.

Anna came 38th.

Tasha almost finished .

Orla on the home straight.

Brook also at the finish straight.

Lucy W finishing her race.

Lots of year 3 children so that bodes well for next year- keep running everyone.

Cricket week 2

Unfortunately our coach could not come this week but we still had cricket as the weather was sunny and I love my cricket!
Warm up games of throwing and catching- 14 tennis balls between 28 children.

Now in pairs in 2 teams snaking the ball up the field without dropping it. If dropped the team has to start again!

Success so 2 ball are used- not easy so we will be doing that again another week!

Next- repeating last weeks activity of aiming at the stumps with first to hit 3 times as winners.

Another game of 5 bat cricket.

A super afternoon with lots of great skills shown.
