week 17th-21st September

Our cross country team ran at Priory Queensway and put heart and soul into doing their best. Every child ran to the best of their ability and gained good team places. Our Y6 boys performed exceptionally with Sam W coming first, Anthony 8th, Isaac 11th and Oliver 15th out of all schools in the Grantham area- about 100 boys and 80 girls. Georgie, as a Y5 girl in her first race ,came 19th- a super first race. Now the children know the course and just how long 1.5km really is , I am sure that they will do just as well in the next 2 races.
Maximum effort-no energy left! However this is not how we cool down in school!

We finished our Sunflower pictures and our display looks wonderful. I hope you agree.

In English we have been learning about active and passive verbs- our role play proved to be a successful way of explaining a difficult subject. We used Cider with Rosie by Laurie Lee and acted out a scene where  Laurie is wrapped in scarves by his sisters and taken to school. Here he is prodded and poked by older children in the rodeo of a playground.
Can your child give you an example of a passive verb and explain how we showed this?
Table 4 show us their interpretations of this scene.
Laurie was wrapped in scarves by his sisters.

Laurie was surrounded and prodded with keen interest by older children. Can you tell who Laurie is?
A good lesson !
