Bike Wise

12 Year 5 children have undergone intensive Bike Wise training  over 2 days. They worked all through the rain on Monday and were literally soaked to the skin at the end.
Getting ready with High Vis jackets on.
Checking all understand what is going to happen.

First day so on the school playground initially to check bikes are safe and correct for the road.

All fine so far....

in fact, all is good so far....

Plenty of layers to keep the rain and cold out ( or so we thought!)

Almost ready for the road.

Safety first-instructors and the front and end of our group.

Much better when it is not raining!

And off they go...

All that is left now is for the children to show the instructors that they know what to do correctly and safely in order to gain their Bike Wise badges and certificates.

Most looked pleased,

happy,

enjoying themselves

Mrs Ballaam was on hand to give ideas when needed.

Normal art resumes next week-Christmas will not be mentioned again for a while!

New Term...New Class 3.

RE-Harvest
We had Mr Pykett visit us to share his farming and harvest photos. He talked to us about lots of different types of harvest including : arable crops, crops for birds, solar power and much more. We had already thought about questions to ask and Mr Pykett was able to answer them and also got us thinking about the answers for ourselves. We found out there was much more to harvest than we initially thought!

Thank you Mr Pykett for teaching us about harvest .

A special visitor ...

On Wednesday Jacob and Ben's new sister made her first visit to Marston School. At just over 1 week old Natasha came to see us.
Jacob was proud to show his sister to his friends.

Ben now having his turn to introduce Natasha to class 3.

Natasha also visited class 1 where her other brother Tom has just started in Reception.

Maths.
We enjoyed playing a dice game that showed we had learned about place value of numbers.
In pairs we took turns to roll the dice and decide which column to put the value in. In our 5 or 6 digit numbers the lowest score at the end won! Pairs had to read their numbers aloud and compare using less than ot more than to check they were correct. We also learned that probability played apart too!
Next games= highest score wins.
new tables with new partners

deep in concentration

less chance to win on table 6 as 3 playing together

even less chance as table 5 all played against each other

a good start to maths class 3

When asked what they had learned from the game, one reply was," we are applying what we have learned ." That says it all.
