Maths Y6 leading the starter sessions and science work

Y 6 continued to lead the maths starters with children asking the questions in order to work out the number Y6 had chose. Lots of maths vocabulary being used with sensible questions. The 100 square on the white board helps see what is still left so children can start to think,'What's the same, what's different?'
Riley chose the number for the class to work out.

Lots of hands up ready to ask.
Tilly kept the 100m square up to date.

With only 4 numbers left could a question be asked that would identify the missing number? That was the challenge.

Science: creating our own keys to identify leaves.

First keys had to be created by looking carefully to see what the features of the leaves were so a key could then be made.

Children moved round testing the keys to see if they worked.Could the leaves be identifies correctly.

We evaluated and agreed that most keys were successful
