Gravity Fields Festival 28th September

Today KS 2 visited the Gravity Fields Science Fair in Grantham. We had 4 activities: Space Dome, Hull University Science Fair, The Moon in St Wulfram's and the anti Gravity Box.
We stared in the Space dome in the George centre where we saw stars, constellations, galaxies, planets and learnt lots .
Downstairs we had a science talk / demonstration from the University of Hull. We had demonstrations that showed us how sound travels, about friction, air resistance and much more.

Listening as sound travelled along a slinky and string to a cup that amplified the sounds.

The power of friction 'stuck' the pages of 2 books together and these 4 could not pull the books apart!

Can you inflate this 60 litre balloon with 1 breath? No!

Amongst the displays was Tim Peeke's space suit.

Air pressure unravelling a toilet roll!

-Using 3D printer pens-great fun. Children made their names, hearts, sculptures....
bridge making...

more 3D printer work...

 a 4D mathematical 'Taurus'shape...

more 3D printing...
Then we went to see the Museum of the Moon that is travelling around the world( literally, it came from Hull and next goes to France). It is a new tiuring art work 7 m in diameter that has detailed imagery of the lunar surface.

Our final activity was in the anti gravity chamber...

A good morning enjoyed by all: children and adults.
