RE-meditating

As part of our Buddhism topic we learned about meditating. Children were keen to try the lotus position-some even continued whilst waiting in between our netball matches !
We also listened to relaxing music and wrote and drew about what the music meant to us- a lovely 3 minutes-the quietest of the week!

Children had the choice to just sit quietly on their chairs, sit on the floor or try the lotus position- as you can see most were keen to try the last choice!

Some were really good at this.
Children in school kits are obviously psyching themselves up for the netball matches later that night!

Mod roc bases

Our statues are nearly ready to be made into scenes-here children are fixing their statues to a suitable base.

Next photos will show the statues in their scenes.

Dojo Winners Term 4

After adding all the dojos for term 4 and calculating the mean and median for the class, the top 5 were given a day of non uniform in addition to other rewards, the top 10 also received a certificate and those who gained more than the class average also had a letter of congratulations sent home.
Well done all those who received certificates.

Tag Rugby

After a few weeks we are now  learning to use the tags as well as passing and tackling.
In teams listening to instructions...
Frazer is just making sure we all know what we are doing!

Remember no forward passes allowed!

So different from netball-we have to run with the ball and pass backwards!

Working our way down the yard.
Next we had a rather complicated game to play. Each team has a job,1=tackle,2-run and feed ball through legs after tackled,3=receive ball from tackled team member,4=receives pass and team runs to end.We did well but need more next week!
Telling Frazer what we had learned at the end of the lesson. We all had to decide a personal target that we need to improve next week.

Sport Relief Decathlon Challenge

As well as dressing up in sports gear, learning about what the donated money is used for, we wanted to set ourselves a sporting challenge.Could we as a whole class complete 10 separate 1 minute challenges in 30 minutes?
We decided the challenges, got the equipment ready- as we knew that we needed quick change overs so we did not loose time and went with our official adjudicators ( Mrs Cooney and Mrs Millar) to the hall.If more all the class were not completing all the time then we had failed the task and had to repeat it!
First challenge- a jog around the hall( would also act as our warm up).

Netballers, ice skaters, cricketers, climbers, gymnasts, rugby players, footballers, horse riders, tennis players, judo-all jogging
Next challenge-hooping
it did not matter if the hoop fell as long s it was started again quickly!

easy for some-a challenge for others!
3rd challenge:
skipping with our hoops

some really skipping well
 phew-it's tiring!

ladder relay
keeping moving, no stopping

throwing and catching in pairs-we failed our first attempt and had to redo it!(too many dropped and not good throwing according to our adjudicator)

individual skills

uni hoc dribbling round the hall

avoiding our class mates-not easy when 29 are concentrating on their skills-we did well.
The next 2 activities we completed outside-non stop netball goal shooting and then finally a running team relay.
10 events-our Sport Relief Challenge was met-success!
