Lava Lamps
We made lava lamps using oil, water, food colouring and Alka-Seltzer tablets in a plastic bottle.
adding the ingredients
lid on tightly before gently rocking the mixture back and forth
When a torch was shined underneath then the lava lamp effect was magnified.
It works! Success.
Enjoying our creations.
Another great science activity.

Art- natures pallet in science week.
We explored our school grounds looking to see what colour pallets could be made from natural objects.
collecting various shades of green
Once we had collected our materials we had to create a piece of art using collected objects.
Arranging our colour shades .
Sorting and deciding what to do.
Enjoying using the ground as a canvas.
Even creating a frame for the picture.
Pleased with our final creations.
Super art using natures palette.
Science Week Rockets
We made rockets in science week powered by water mixed with an Alka-Seltzer tablet-very successful. Some flew to the height of the school roof, others fizzled due to a poor seal being made and water leaking out.
Great fun and a perfect sunny day to launch the rockets.
At the start all proudly showing our mini rockets.
We had to stand well back as the rockets flew off quickly- usually in an upright direction.
The sandpit lid provided an ideal base for launching our rockets.
We had a relaunch of the ones that went the highest-Arthur looks pleased with how his went.
Wow-so high!
Children were still a bit apprehensive and backed away quickly once the lids were secured!
Resealing and refining the rockets.
Great fun and a perfect sunny day to launch the rockets.
