Dame Carol Ann Duffy at Lincoln University

Dame Carol Ann Duffy at Lincoln University

On Thursday we took all KS2 to the Lincoln Performing Arts Centre at Lincoln University to listen to Dame Carol Ann Duffy read her book The Princesses' Blankets. We were shown to our seats on the front 2 rows and waited patiently for 1 school to arrive...then the performance began. Dame Carol Ann was joined by her friend John Samson on stage.

Within seconds all children and staff were enraptured as Carol Ann read her book accompanied by John playing music on a range of instruments.
                                          Quaytickets
Carol Ann and her best friend John (who she says was a gift from the Queen when she was made Laureate…) read from her book as John wove around Carol Ann's words, even  playing two instruments at once...

conjuring a magical, musical wonderland. Mozart's wig  made an appearance during one of the poetry readings . We joined in shouting out loud – as everyone knows, the cleverest people are always the loudest( or so we were told through poetry).
Every time John played a certain recorder we knew we were once again returning to The Princesses' Blankets story.

Front row full of anticipation before the show begins...

We enjoyed listening to lots of poems, listening to the music, looking at the instruments

 and hearing The Princesses' Blankets.

A fantastic opportunity for all of us- I thanked the University for inviting us and asked them to include us in any future events which they promised to do
