Transition workshop with Walton Girls School

We welcomed  Walton students in year 7 and 8 together with Mrs Leonard (Vice Principal) and Miss Smith to our school on Wednesday. The purpose was a transition workshop to make children think about their next transition- from Y6-Y7, from Y5-6...
Mrs Leonard gave us her top tips for making the transition to secondary school straightforward. To do this we split into groups under the guidance of a Walton student to produce freeze - frame style images of things that children need to remember...
A pencil case full of the correct equipment, a lunch box or a purse with money, a PE bag...

Mrs Leonard talking to  us, explaining the purpose of the workshop

Starting to work in our groups

introducing ourselves

names and year groups- can we remember them?

What is in the pencil case?Ruler, pencil, rubber...

I like how this group made the actual pencil case too.

scissors?

Now what is in the lunch box?
A banana, yoghurt and spoon, drink with a straw and a packet of crisps!

How do you feel on your first day?
Lost? Looking for someone?

Which way? What now?

Now thinking about the differences between primary and secondary school.

What are you looking forward to?

What could worry you?

All working together.

Class 3 and the Walton students.

Thumbs up- a super workshop, thank you.
