October 19th

Over the past 2 weeks we have finished writing  our stories about First Day at School, they are now in a folder so everyone in class can read them. We are about to start unit 4 of our spellings- this will continue after half term.We are looking at Science Fiction and The War of the Worlds.

Our cross country team were presented with their certificates infront of the whole school.

Our netball team played their first round of league matches at KGGS  on Wednesday. We won one game and lost 2 games . There are no photos-I took the camera but forgot to take photos as we were too busy learning where to stand, what to do and who and how to play! It was a learning experience as all but Amelia have not played in matches before only our 2 netball club sessions. As a result I think we did really well and picked up the rules quickly. During our netball club we will refine our skills ready for the next matches.

In maths Y5 applied their skills and knowledge of multiples and played some maths games.
Andrew and Jay discussing tactics.
Chloe and Veranika enjoying a multiple challenge activity.
Georgie and Megan and Times Table Lotto.

Daniel, Ben amd Jamie explore Multiples using peg boards.
Year 6 explored square number sequences, triangular sequences and Pascal's triangle. Lots of patterns were found and shared. We are getting skilled at identifying patterns.

Year 6 ,especially House and Vice Captains, are busy preparing for Book Day on Wednesday. Children will be working in their houses enjoying activities designed by  Y6. Lots to look forward to this week.

Week 1st - 5th October

This week we have been continuing to  learn about First Day at School stories and the associated events, feelings and activities. We are planning our own stories next week and will be writing them using two narrators to tell the story.

We have just finished Unit 2 spellings and start unit 3 on Monday for the next 2 weeks.

In Maths we created our own "Odd One Out" activities and tested them out on each other. From 4 simple numbers or shapes we came up with over 23 different reasons why they could be the odd one out.

How many different answers can we find?

Half of the class were missing doing Bikewise so the rest of us enjoyed our maths  investigations.

Several children took part in Bikewise- see school Blog for photos.

Our Cross Country team competed in their final race at The Meres. Our girls team of Georgie, Chloe T, Veranika,Amelia, Jordan and Chloe J came 8th out of 16 schools. Georgie was 19th overall and Chloe T 22nd out of 75 girls. Well done to all.
Our boys team saved their best resuts for the last race with Sam W coming 3rd, Anthony 4th and Oliver 6th .rOverall we came FIRST out of the 17 school taking part. We are now the champions for  the 2nd yeas in a row- a fantastic effort. The rest of our team consisted of Isaac, Daniel, Sam T, Matthew, James and Jay. We were presented with a trophy and medals-watch out for the Journal photos.
As well as the team event, Sam W came 3rd overall as an individual having finished 1st, 5th and 3rd in the 3 races. A super effort Sam.
Our successful team of boys.
