We are APP designers and Presenters- computing in class 3.

For our computing lessons this term we have been learning about the purpose of Apps, designing our own and researching the competition before working in groups to pitch the best ideas in a Dragons Den style presentation.

Each group was appointed a year 6 team leader .

Initial discussions were to decide whose App was to be pitched.

The next task was to prepare a presentation to pitch the App.

Hannah's group pitched their Best Test App first.

Matthews group pitched their Apptastical App to allow parents to see what was happening in school.

Elise presented Holiday Help to find the perfect holiday destination.

Finally Rory's group pitched their Tingo app to collate all social media onto 1 easy to use App.
The Dragons( plus Mrs Barnes and Mrs Chadwick) after asking lots of questions decided the group most likely to bring in a profit was Elise and her group with their Holiday Help App.
Mrs Chesterton , a governor, came in and helped judge with Mrs Padgett  asking some pertinent financial questions amongst others which Elise and her group answered well showing a good knowledge and research into their idea.Well Done .

Mrs Barnes thanked the winning group and presented them with special decorations filled with gold coins( what else!). All groups received a small prize as a thank you for working so hard and presenting in front of the Dragons.

Thank you Mrs Chesterton and Mrs Padgett for helping decide the winning App.

Church, advent,dojos and more...

The top 6 dojo children from this term in year 6 helped Mrs Ballaam decorate the school Christmas tree this week.

Advent has begun and we are using an online maths advent calendar as well as a more traditional one.

A word search  to complete within a set time- many hands make light work!

Completing the 100 square- sound easy except that it was all in code!

Success!

The top 6 dojo children from this term in year 6 helped Mrs Ballaam decorate the school Christmas tree this week.

Tree finished using decorations made by each class.

Dojo winners from earlier in the term.

Natasha came in whilst Ben's costume for Scrooge was fixed-she was quite happy to be part of our class!

Playleader Training, assessment and presenatations.

Sophie Allen from Inspire+ has been leading a 6 week play leader training programme. Once we had been taught all the basics we had to plan activities, lead them and be assessed on our performance in order to pass the course and be awarded our play leader caps and badges.
in our pairs planning our games

now trying out our ideas before we present them

Sophie checking everything was prepared prior to our assessments

First pair telling their peers what they have planned.

Now the class plays the game  that the pair prepared for them.
Next pair...

                                                evaluating their own performance...

and the next pair...

Self evaluation is an important part of the process, knowing what worked well and what could be improved.

At the end all children had successfully completed the course and were awarded their caps and badges.
Play leaders will start their activities in the new term.

Thank you Sophie and well done class 3.
