British Heart Foundation-Ramp up the Red Day-7th February

Today we discussed the importance of looking after our hearts-this day linked perfectly with our science topic. In early work we designed posters to help make others aware of how to look after their hearts and why. In English we read Christina Rossetti's poem What is pink? From this we then created our own poems-What is Red?Look out for them appearing on the blog later- some super work.
The group of children who went to the swimming gala missed out on baking on Tuesday so I thought they too deserved a treat-heart shaped biscuits resulted. Mrs Millar helped 2 groups to make their biscuits.

Chinese New Year

On Monday we completed Chinese themed activities . In English we watched the story of the 12 animals and how the years got their names- we then wrote our own newspaper reports-Rat Cheats To Win Race !Some super writing resulted.
In maths we used tangrams-we made our own tangrams and completed pictures using them. We could make it easy by seeing the outlines of the 7 shapes or make it harder by just seeing the outlines of the finished pictures. We also created our own shapes and tried an interactive tangram on the smart board-not easy! We enjoyed the lesson- visualising is not easy!
