Gravity Fields Visit

On Friday 26th September we visited the Gravity Fields Festival in Grantham. We had 5 planned activities. The day started with a fabulous "Glorious Blood" show in the Guildhall. We learned lots about blood and how it travels round the body.
(photos to follow from class 2 camera!)
Before our visit to the 17th Century Apothecary, we looked at an exhibition of photos in the Grantham Museum.

We  met an apothecary and learned about 17th Century medicines and how they cured illnesses!
We did not fancy the leech treatment for headaches!
Was the "sample " clear, bitter!... well it was a sign of melancholy!
Time to make our own cures-17th century style.

...making pills with a pestle and mortar.

using  authentic tools of  the trade

                                                           another group making potions

As we ate, Grantham College paraded some giant "puppets "on wheels.

Isaac Newton as you've never seen him before.
The colours of light, the planets, apple-all there.

who needs  digital cameras?
What were we going to see?
Once inside the tent we were amazed at the moving 3D images of everything around us using light, mirrors and glass lenses! fantastic?
At the end of the day-tired but a super day.
When asked what the best part of the day was, the reply was..."all of it!"
That sums it up beautifully!
A great day.
